Join the Department of Performance Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, for a conversation between Clark Young (PS MA Alum), playwright of Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski, David Strathairn, Academy Award Nominated Actor, Barbara Browning, Professor of Performance Studies, and Ann Pellegrini, Professor of Performance Studies & Social and Cultural Analysis. 

This conversation will feature the evolution of Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski from performance to publication.  

Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski carries forward Jan Karski’s legacy of bearing witness so that future generations might be inspired to follow his example and “shake the conscience of the world.” Jan Karski (1914 – 2000) was a Polish emissary during World War II who risked his life to bring news of the Holocaust to the Allied governments. Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski is a dramatization of Karski’s mission by Derek Goldman and Clark Young, adapted for the stage and the screen.
Accompanying the text of the stage play in this volume are essays and conversations from leading diplomats, thinkers, artists, and writers who reckon with Karski’s legacy and its continuing resonance. As Nancy Pelosi emphasizes on the story of Jan Karski, “…We must bear witness to our history, face the truth, and act upon it.”
