Echoes of attempts — a conversation with Ricardo Aleixo

In this informal conversation, drifting between Portuguese and English, Ricardo Aleixo will talk about his work, which happens at the intersection of poetry, performance, music, video, visual arts, and dance.  This event is a collaboration between UC Berkeley’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese, The Center of Latin American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, NYU Department of Performance Studies, and NYU Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures. The conversation will be moderated by Nathaniel Wolfson and André Lepecki

Ricardo Aleixo is a Brazilian intermedia artist-performer, poet and editor. His work mixes poetry, visual arts, video, dance, performance, music and sound design. He has exhibited in the United States, Mexico, Germany, Argentina, Portugal, France, Spain and Switzerland. His most recent books of poems, Extraquadro (Impressões de Minas) and Diário da encruza (Organismo) were published in 2020. He develops his creative and research projects at LIRA / Laboratório Interartes Ricardo Aleixo and KORA / Kombo Roda Afrotópica, both situated in the neighborhood of Campo Alegre, the periphery of Belo Horizonte.
