Broadway and Belief

Broadway is back! And the NYU Center for Religion and Media is excited to invite you to our upcoming virtual event Broadway and Belief on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00pm EST.

What do Broadway musicals have to do with religion? What kind of beliefs and values do they foster? And how does Broadway promote certain beliefs about America that reverberate outside of New York into communities across the country?

Jacob Johnson (Oklahoma City University), author of Lying in the Middle: Musical Theater and Belief in the Heart of America, joins Stacy Wolf (Princeton University), author of Beyond Broadway: The Pleasure and Promise of Musical Theatre Across America, for a discussion about Broadway, belief, and America.

This event is cosponsored by Tisch Peformance Studies, Religious Studies, and the Center for Media, Culture, and History.
