Troizel Carr

Troizel is black + queer + alive and that means more than these words can express. they exist at the interstice of academic scholarship and performative praxis, wherein which they are concerned with the textured and erotic relationship that blackness has to being. they are currently beginning research on black children’s figurations in post-emancipation art and literature and the capacity of those figurations to enact black freedom.

Why PS @ NYU?

Performance Studies was the one place that I felt like all of my scholarly interests could lie together, at times comfortably, and other times, uncomfortably. It's this contradictory balance that really invigorates the work.
