Echolocation by Eliza Randall and Sam Norman
Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program cycle 30 alums Sam Norman and Eliza Randall are the winners of the 2025-26 MTI Stiles + Drewe Mentorship Award with their musical ECHOLOCATION.
Performed in pitch darkness, ECHOLOCATION is a teen love story following Ethan, a street-smart athlete, and Sadie, a blind intellectual. When Ethan finds out his biological father is alive, the two set out on a secret road trip - he's running towards something, and she's running away. Engaging all the senses but sight, ECHOLOCATION is an exciting new musical you literally can't see.
As recipients of the award, Norman and Randall will receive a one-week development residential retreat in France and two one-day readings or R&Ds, culminating in rehearsal provision for a workshop and an industry showcase with a professional cast, director, and musical director.
