Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program cycle 33 alums Sophie Boyce and Veronica Mansour received the 21st Annual Fred Ebb Award. The Fred Ebb Award is for excellence in songwriting, and is given to a songwriter or team that does not yet have significant commercial success. The award comes with a $60,000 prize to support the creation of new works in musical theatre.

Sophie Boyce is a lyricist and librettist and has been previously recognized as a Dramatist Guild Fellow; Richard Rodgers Award winner; Eric H. Weinberger Librettist Award winner; Eugene O’Neill NMTC winner; and a finalist for the Kleban Prize.

Veronica Mansour is a composer and lyricist and has been previously recognized as a two-time Richard Rodgers Award winner; Jonathan Larson Grant winner; Eric H. Weinberger Librettist Award winner; Dramatists Guild fellow; nominee for a Marvin Hamlisch International Music Award; 2023 Write Out Loud contest winner; and was selected for the DreamWorks Theatricals, MTI, and NBCUniversal Emerging Writers Program.
