GMTWP Alum Michael R. Jackson

GMTWP Alum Michael R. Jackson (Cycle 14) has been named a 2019 Helen Merrill Award Winner. 

The award, which is named after the late theatrical agent Helen Merrill, comes with a no-strings-attached $30,000 prize. The playwrights were selected by an advisory committee comprised of leaders in the American theatre (Emily Morse, Niegel Smith, Lisa McNulty, Raplh Peña, and Stephanie Ybarra), and will be presented with the awards in New York City June 27.

Jackson's musicals include WHITE GIRL IN DANGER and A STRANGE LOOP, which is currently receiving its world premiere at Playwrights Horizons. His awards include a Jonathan Larson Grant, the Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award, ASCAP Harold Adamson Award, and the Whiting Award.
