ASSISTANTS THE MUSICAL BY GMTWP ALUM BRYAN BLASKIE AND MANNY HAGOPIAN

ASSISTANTS THE MUSICAL BY GMTWP ALUM BRYAN BLASKIE AND MANNY HAGOPIAN

ASSISTANTS THE MUSICAL by GMTWP Alum Bryan Blaskie (Cycle 27) and Manny Hagopian, music directed by GMTWP Alum Patrick Thompson (Cycle 27), runs at the Players Theatre through July.

In ASSISTANTS THE MUSICAL, everyone is invited to a backstage tour of Hollywood where dreams are made, celebrities are born, and the assistants have more power than even they realize. When TV’s biggest showrunner announces a new career direction, it sends her assistant Tara—and the rest of Los Angeles—into a frenzy. Navigating the industry proves harder than expected for the Assistants as secret alliances are made, trust is manipulated, and emotions get in the way of business.

Bryan Blaskie's music has been performed in collaboration with organizations such as American Opera Projects, Stepping Stones Museum, and the 52nd Street Project. His musical NOTHING TO SEE HERE (with Laurie Hochman) was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill’s National Musical Theatre Conference, and his opera OUTSIDE (with Seth Christenfeld) was recently presented at the Stonewall Inn. Music direction credits include CHARLOTTE'S WEB (TheatreWorksUSA), ALIEN VS. MUSICAL, BOY FROM OZ (LA Drama Critics Circle Award, Stage Raw Award, Ovation Award nomination), 110 IN THE SHADE (Ovation Award – Best Musical), TONYA HARDING: THE MUSICAL, and DAISY & JORDAN'S SUNDAY BRUNCH OF SHAME featuring Jordan Kai Burnett and Tony Award winner Daisy Eagan.
