We are pleased to highlight one of the most significant events in our Graduate Film program - our annual Second Year Showcase.
After a year of working on three highly structured First Year projects, students in their Second Year are given two academic semesters to make one 10-minute film of their choosing. Our students make these films over the course of one long production period, back to back, crewing for one another and learning as they watch each other direct. Often, they travel to their home countries or states to shoot them. In preparation for this screening event, they edit and reedit the films over the spring semester with feedback from the Faculty.
It is quite an accomplishment to have these 38 films completed all at once. It is exciting and meaningful for all of us, and we as a program honor its singular place in their education and their evolution as film artists.
On May 11 & 12 at the Cantor Film Center in NYC, we hope you will join us in screening these diverse stories: stories of personal revelation, of love and heartache, of social and political impact, of mystery and clarity, comedy and pathos, as these filmmakers of the new millennium etch their generation’s mythologies on the walls of our imaginations.
