Last week a group of anonymous film executives and producers launched a website called "The Alice Initiative" that highlights female directors. Recent statistics have shown that only 9% of the top grossing films of 2015 were directed by women and this initiative's goal is to change that by offering a master list of female directors for studios to consider.
The initiative highlighted 30 women they think are talented but have not yet directed a studio feature. Three Grad Film alumnae were featured: Dee Rees, Nisha Ganatra, and Emily Carmichael.
