Chair Julia Solomonoff and Award Recipient Yuan Yuan at First Run Film Festival 2025
The NYU Tisch Graduate Film Department of the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television is pleased to announce a new award for Grad Film Students, the Focus Features award, consisting of $10,000 for a Grad Film student short. In their words:
“At Focus Features, our mission is to create a lasting impact by telling distinctive stories that foster human connection. We are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of passionate filmmakers, which is why we are excited to partner with NYU’s First Run Festival 2025 to present the Focus Features Best Film Award.
We are thrilled to present the Focus Features Best Film Award to the wholly original film ‘When Winter Comes,’ written and directed by Yuan Yuan."
