Devin Carey

Graduate Film has selected MFA/MBA Candidate Devin Carey as this year's recipient for the Robert Oberman, Gregory Pickert, and Media Services Producing Award. The honor, which is selected by producing faculty, is given to a Graduate Film candidate in the third year of the program for outstanding producing work over their course of studies.

Devin Carey is a producer, writer and director currently pursuing her MFA in film from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and an MBA from the Stern School of Business through the university's dual degree program. At Tisch, she is proud to have collaborated with a diverse group of talented directors and writers to produce over 15 short films across a range of genres. Her short film, HEN PARTY, received awards for Producing, Acting and Production Design at The First Run Film Festival. Before graduate school, Devin built a successful career in advertising, producing global campaigns for fashion and beauty brands including L'oreal, Maybelline New York, essie, Amazon and eBay. Her advertising work has been televised throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East. She is honored to be the recipient of the 2025 Robert Oberman, Gregory Pickert Media Services Award for achievement in Producing. Devin is currently in development on two feature films and her thesis short, BABY SISTER. She is expected to graduate from NYU in 2026.

"I can say without hesitation that Devin is one of the most grounded, forward-thinking, and genuinely collaborative producers I’ve ever worked with. Devin has that rare ability to hold the creative and the practical in equal measure—she approaches development with vision, but also with a deep awareness of audience, and execution. Her feedback is always insightful, her instincts are sharp, and she never loses sight of what it will actually take to bring a film to life.”

“As a director, I’ve come to recognize a producer who actually protects and elevates the creative process. Devin is firmly that type of collaborator who will anticipate problems, ask the right questions, know what to look out for during the process, and will bring a high level of intentionality during production to make each day. On every project we’ve done together, Devin has had the rare ability to foresee my needs and help build an environment that’s respectful, thoughtful, and efficient.”

“Devin is collaborative in every part of the filmmaking process: she gives great feedback on scripts, casting, locations, and designs—she always gives thoughtful and honest feedback any time I ask her for her opinion. She is knowledgeable, diligent about getting work done, and available for check ins and meetings consistently. She commits to what she can do and she always delivers.”
