Lorena Durán is the recipient of the Jeff Lima Production Award for 2023.
Lorena's short film, "Dilia Won't Die," explores three Dominican-American women failing to co-exist under the same roof in Queens, NY, following a physically-impaired mother’s obsession with winning an online Dominoes tournament, unleashing devastating consequences on her teenage daughter and her vindictive caregiver.
Jeff Lima has expressed his sincere gratitude to all the filmmakers who have embraced the call to action for the advancement of Latinx representation in film, and he enthusiastically encourages this year’s applicants to submit a screenplay for consideration, for the subsequent award year.
