Alejandro Miyashiro

Alejandro Miyashiro

Alum Alejandro Miyashiro received this year’s Jeff Lima Production Award.

Alejandro’s film, My Grandmother’s Door, explores how American multi-cultural identity transforms throughout generations.  The film follows Ana, a young, half-Mexican woman who impulsively drives to the abandoned childhood home of her recently deceased grandmother and finds unexpected conflicts arise when she tries to reclaim a family heirloom from the house.

Jeff Lima has expressed his sincere gratitude to all the filmmakers who have embraced the call to action for the advancement of Latinx representation in film.

The Jeff Lima Production Award was created by Jeff Lima to help support NYU Tisch Grad Film work that advances the Latinx presence on screen.  You can read more about Jeff here, and more about the Award here.
