“Nafi’s Father” Still

Alum Mamadou Dia’s film Baamum Nafi (Nafi’s Father) will be featured at this year’s New Directors/New Films, a Film at Lincoln Center and MoMA festival.

Nafi’s Father is a story about a fight between an Imam and his powerful brother over their childrens' marriage. At stake: how a small community slowly drifts towards extremism.

The film was shot in Dia’s hometown of Matam in Northern Senegal, and earlier this year won two Golden Leopards at Locarno: Filmmakers of the Present and Best First Feature.

The event will run from March 25-April 5, 2020.
