Alumni Cary Joji Fukunaga and Nicole Kassell are joining forces for HBO’s The Last of the Mohicans series.
The series is based on the James Fenimore Cooper novel about the Seven Years War. Deadline reports that it will “re-center the classic tale on the unlikely romance between Uncas, a young Mohican, and Cora, the mixed-race daughter of a British colonel.” Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have been developing the project since last April, which will be released on WarnerMedia’s new streaming service HBO Max (launching in May).
Fukunaga will write the episodes while Kassell will direct. The pair will executive produce.
