The 28th Camerimage awarded alum Joshua James Richards both the Golden Frog and FIPRESCI International Critics Prize in recognition of his work on fellow alum Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland. The Golden Frog is the highest honor in the festival’s main competition, and the FIPRESCI Award is the jury’s honor in recognition of the best film in the main competition. Richards shares the latter with his long-time collaborator Zhao.
Professor Frederick Elmes also received recognition from Camerimage for his work on HBO’s Hunters. He won the First Look TV Pilots competition for the opening episode of the series, “In the Belly of the Whale”, the complex techniques for which he discussed in an in depth interview with Variety.
