The Festival de Cannes has announced the lineup for their 2018 festival. Grad Film is well represented by students, alumni, and faculty.

This includes A.B. Shawky's Yomeddine. A.B. Shawky is an Egyptian-Austrian filmmaker. His short films The ColonyThings I Heard on Wednesdays and Martyr Friday have screened at festivals around the world. He studied Political Science and Filmmaking in Cairo, and graduated from our program in New York. Yomeddine is his first feature, and was his thesis project for NYU. Getting a student film in the Cannes Main Competition is an accomplishment unheard of.

Another accomplishment comes from alumna Debra Granik, whose film Leave No Trace (which is just coming off a successful premiere at Sudance) is the only film by an American director in the Director's Fortnight section of Cannes.

Also, our current thesis student Jamie Dack will be representing Grad Film in the Cinéfondation Selection with her short, Palm Trees and Power Lines.

We are proud of all the members of our community that will be featured in the 2018 Festival de Cannes. Here is the full list:
