FAQ : CARY FUKUNAGA PRODUCTION FUND

By accepting the fund, you will agree to abide by the below:

• Production Deadline of 2 Years: Fund recipients will be asked to provide a cut of your completed film by no more than 24 months after receipt of the fund (e.g. Summer 2024 recipients will be expected to provide a cut by Summer 2026).

  • Failure to meet these deadlines will result in the forfeiture of remaining funding.

• Fund recipients will work closely with their thesis advisor and the Grad Film Chair to ensure their production meets Grad Film thesis standards.

• Awarded funds cannot be used for any other project--only the one for which the applicant applied.

Current NYU Tisch Grad Film Students with a narrative short project who have completed the first two years of coursework (or are in the process of completing the final semester) and have yet to begin their thesis projects.

Yes. You can apply as long as you have not begun production on your thesis film and said thesis film is a narrative short.

No. You may only submit one project per year you are eligible.

No. Please follow the instructions provided in google form.

A committee of faculty and industry professionals will choose the finalists and winner based on materials submitted.

You will be notified if you are a finalist in Summer 2024.

One production award of $20,000 will be granted to a thesis project.

Winners will be announced in Summer 2024.

Please be aware that receiving an award does not mean you will receive the funds immediately. Your Chair has to approve release of the funds, and that will be based on production approval.

You are eligible to apply each year of your eligibility, but cannot apply with the same project more than twice. Should you choose to submit the same project a second time, you will need to indicate that you are doing so. Failure to accurately disclose your past application history may cause your application to be disqualified.

Awarded funds must be used toward the project for which you received them. This requirement does not preclude script revisions, casting changes, or the normal evolution of a project as production and post-production take place, but any substantial changes to the nature of the project must be approved by the Grad Film Chair and your thesis advisor.
