Tisch West: Books with Friends Meetup

Book Club

Like to read? Want to be motivated to read more? Just like talking about books and want a way to get introduced to some good ones?

Tisch West invites you to the first monthly session of Books with Friends, a new style of book club.

Every month, the group will vote on a theme. During that month, group members will be free to read a book of any kind that’s relevant to that month’s theme. Don’t have anything on your TBR shelf that fits? No problem! Each theme will come with a book recommended by the organizers.

Then, we will meet for two hours over drinks. During the first hour, we will socialize and talk about the books we’ve all read, pitching them to each other, explaining why we chose them, and discussing what we liked or didn’t like.

The second hour will be a “silent reading hour”. This is your chance to whip out your book of choice and just read in quiet company in a no-stress, low-pressure environment.

Don’t want to read or prefer to keep chatting? Feel free! Just go downstairs to the garden café area of the venue and keep the conversation flowing!

*Parking is either metered /street parking. The venue also has valet parking.

** Tisch West will not be providing the books. All participants are responsible for buying, downloading, or borrowing the books they wish to read.

FIRST MEETING THEME:

Either the main character of the book is Black, or the author identifies as Black.
(In honor of Black History Month)
