In a recent article posted by A.Frame, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences's guide to movies, Rockwell talked about the 6 films that inspire her, including Crooklyn and Goodfellas.
Rockwell, a native of Queens, NY, Queens, cut her teeth helming short films with titles like Gotham F—king City and El Train, exploring race, identity and systemic oppression within vignettes of the city. Her feature debut, A Thousand and One, premiered during this year's Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for the U.S. Dramatic Competition.
