Jared Peraglia '22 (BFA, Kanbar Institute, Film & TV) recently earned a Student Academy Award silver medal in the documentary category for his film, Here to Stay. Peraglia created the film for his thesis while taking Professor Alice Elliott’s advanced documentary class at Tisch. Here to Stay follows the story of a 23-year-old, first-generation, Mexican-American woman who runs for office in one of the most dangerous cities in America.
The Academy named 14 filmmakers as winners of its 2022 student competition, with a list that included films from the likes of Germany, France and Australia as well as the U.S. All of the winning films are eligible to compete for 2022 Oscars in the Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film or Documentary Short Film category.
