Alumnus Helps Feed the Frontlines

When the Film industry came to a grinding halt in mid-March, Andrew Saxe '92 (BFA, Kanbar Institute, Film & TV) went to action.

Andrew received a call from his close friend, Paul Brozen, who pitched an idea by him and several others in the film industry. Together, they came up with a plan to help facilitate feeding hospital workers and healthcare professionals at various hospitals in the NY/NJ/CT area. They developed a GoFundMe page and shared the link with everyone they knew. Fortunately, the film industry answered the call. Within 24 hours they had $30,000 in donations; in 48 Hours it was over $65,000.

On Monday April 13, they had their first truck serve over 400 meals at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, NY. They will continue to service more hospitals where there is a need and as they are granted permission, which Andrews says has been the most difficult part.

"The film industry is all about solving problems all day long.  I'm so happy we are able to help those on the front line who are risking their lives to save the lives of others," Andrew said.
