Congratulations to the Tisch alumni named on the 2023 Forbes 30 Under 30 List! The annual list highlights today's brightest young entrepreneurs, leaders, and stars.

This year, five Tisch alumni were honored in three categories, Hollywood & Entertainment, Music, and Social Impact. Click here for the full list, and see all NYU Alumni here.

Hollywood and Entertainment

Ayo Edebiri '17 (BFA, Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing), Actor

Only a few years ago, Edebiri was torn between a career in education or showbiz, studying to be a teacher at NYU and interning with improv group Upright Citizens Brigade. Comedy won. In 2019 she appeared on Comedy Central's stand-up series "Up Next," but it was her scene-stealing performance as an ambitious chef in 2022's comedy-drama series "The Bear" that won praise from fans and critics. Says Edebiri: "Even if you're at the highest level in your field, in the arts you're always a freelancer. You're always trying to make your own lane and your own path." New projects include starring in the film "Bottoms," a queer comedy set to release in 2023.

Music

Blu DeTiger, (Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music), Musician

The bassist has attracted 1.3 million TikTok fans since the 2020 Covid lockdowns, posting thumping covers of hits by Prince and Megan Thee Stallion. The New York native--who attended the Dalton School in Manhattan and later dropped out of NYU--released her first album of original work, "How Did We Get Here," in 2021 on Alt:Vision records. Her next album, this one on Capitol Records, is due to drop in 2023. Offstage, DeTiger partnered with Fender to create a line of bass guitars and collaborated with Budweiser on a music NFT collection. "Flipping to the business side is a way of expanding my passion and sharing that with more people," she says.

Take A Daytrip, Denzel Baptiste '14 and David Biral '15 (BFA, Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music), Co-Founders

Starting in a New York City basement studio, producing duo Take A Daytrip (Denzel Baptiste and David Biral), have worked with Lil Nas X ("MONTERO", "INDUSTRY BABY ft. Jack Harlow"), Dua Lipa, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, James Blake and Miley Cyrus. They designed the sound for Lil Nas X's VR album launch and Roblox performance, had "THE SCOTTS" feature in Travis Scott's record-breaking Fortnite event, are partners with gaming and tech outfits including Rockstar Games and have earned 3 Billboard No. 1's and 5 GRAMMY nominations.

Social Impact

Codehouse, Jaycee Holmes '18 (MPS, ITP) Co-Founder

Siblings Ernest and Jaycee Holmes and Tavis Thompson created CodeHouse to ensure more students could access the pathways that lead to careers in STEM. To date, CodeHouse has secured more than $3 million in funding from leading tech companies like PayPal, Google and Microsoft, and has hosted multiple Tech Exposure Days to educate high schoolers across the country about careers in tech. CodeHouse has also launched the CodeHouse Scholars Initiative, which provides historically black colleges and universities' students majoring in STEM-related fields with $20,000 in academic scholarships, networking opportunities, and technical training as they matriculate.
