Monday, Sep 18, 2017

The 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, September 17, 2017 in Los Angeles. It was a great night for Tisch alumni who received awards in eight categories. The Creative Arts Emmy winners were announced last week, where alumni received awards in five categories.

Reed Morano, who received the award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, was the first woman to win in this category in 22 years. Donald Glover, who took home two Emmy's last night, made history as the first African American to win Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

Alumni also made appearances on stage during the program. Gina Rodriguez '06 (BFA, Drama), Debra Messing '93 (MFA, Graduate Acting), and Alec Baldwin '94/'10 (BFA, Drama/DFA) presented awards, and Rachel Bloom '09 (BFA, Drama) took the stage for a short performance.

An impressive 76 alumni received Primetime Emmy nominations and 14 took home awards after last nights ceremony.

Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners!
