Tod Maitland is a highly accomplished Production Sound Mixer with a career spanning over four decades. He has over 100 feature film credits to his name and has been nominated for an Academy Award Five times. He has worked with many renowned directors, including Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Spike Lee, Robert Redford, Woody Allen, and M. Night Shyamalan.
Tod's passion for sound recording is evident in his belief that it is an art form. He sees microphones as brushes and recorders as canvases. He has been at the forefront of sound technology and innovation, always striving to find new and better ways to record sound. In fact, on one of his latest film, West Side Story, Tod brought new wireless technology to the set and built a portable system capable of recording a Broadway show on the streets of NYC.
Tod is not only an experienced professional but also a dedicated teacher. He is currently Head of Sound at NYU Grad Film School and brings his real-life experiences to the classroom to help students gain a better understanding of what it's like to work on a film set. Tod has also given seminars, written articles, and trained many sound professionals. He co-founded The Hollywood Edge Sound Effects Libraries, developed products for the industry, contributed to books and is a serial entrepreneur.
