Jeremy Kamps

Jeremy Kamps is a playwright, screenwriter and fiction writer. He recently received the New Jersey Arts Council Award as a finalist. Kamps’ plays have been produced and developed by Esperance Theater Company (NYC), Company Cypher (NYC), Ugly Rhino (NYC), The Fountain Theater (LA), The Public Theater (NYC), New York Theatre Workshop, Spectrum Theater Ensemble, (PVD) Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and The Adam Mickiewicz Institute (Poland). His play, Skin to Skin: Triptych of an American Epidemic, is scheduled for production with Houses on the Moon Theater Company(NYC) for 2026. He was a member of The Public Theater Emerging Writers Fellowship, a current Houses on the Moon Fellow, Playwright-in-Residence for Esperance Theater Company and Spectrum Theater Ensemble and New York Theater Workshop “usual suspect.” Kamps was also a fellow at the NYC Center for Fiction in the emerging writers program. Other selected distinctions include: Ojay Playwriting Conference finalist, Bridport Prize finalist, William Soroyan Human Rights Play Award, Ruby Lloyd Apsey Play on Race Relations Award, La Maison James Baldwin residency finalist, Jerome Foundation Award, Pushcart Prize nominee and co-recipient of the Goldberg Prize. He received the Theatre Communications Group travel grant to develop a project in Kenya where he conducted drama workshops as part of his research for a new play on flower farms. Kamps has facilitated drama and writing workshops around the world and for all ages. He teaches in the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Department of Dramatic writing and at CUNY-Baruch College Weissman School of the Arts and Sciences Communication Studies Department.
