Logline: In Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, a Connecticut Women for Life meeting is interrupted by a young mother who needs help. Elsewhere in history, a group of wealthy Londoners write a dictionary of slang so they can speak the unspeakable in front of their wives and daughters, and a New England tea party devolves into an intervention when the lady of the house must fire the indiscreet help.

Bio: Alanna Coby is a playwright, television writer, and performer living between Kingston, NY and Brooklyn, NY. Her play Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue is a Finalist for the '21-'22 Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting competition and a Semi-Finalist of the 2021 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. Alanna has developed and/or performed her work with SITI Company, Mabou Mines, The Drama League, Dixon Place, and IRT Theater. She is a proud founding member of The Syndicate, an ensemble theatre company that produces new plays by women, queer and trans+ artists and she is also the creator of Cooking Rage, a satire cooking blog, and Ugly Comics, a comic series about the creative process. Alanna has an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU, class of 2021, where she was the recipient of a Tisch Graduate Award Scholarship and the Dalio Family Merit Scholarship.
