After Mackenzie (10) is thrown into an existential crisis over civilization’s expiration date, she must mobilize her community to combat climate change and convince her university-bound sister that there’s a future in their small town.
Bio:
Nicola Lanthier-Rogers is a Canadian writer, filmmaker, and artist. She earned her Hons. BA from the University of Toronto and her MFA at NYU’s Dramatic Writing program, where she received the Oliver Stone Scholarship and Future Screenwriters Fellowship, and was awarded the Dramatic Writing Prize for Outstanding Writing for Animation.
Nicola co-wrote the award-winning web series Amours D’Occasion (2020) on CBC’s Ici Tou.TV and has written for VR as well as traditional short films. While living in England, her episode of the KingsTV web series I’ve Got Your Back (2015) was the runner up for Best Writing at the UK’s National Student Television Association Awards. Her one-act, “The Map,” represented Trinity College at the University of Toronto Drama Festival in 2016, where the performance won two awards. Nicola’s screenplay, The Drake Equation, received an Honorable Mention for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation writing award.
Nicola’s video work has been featured in episodes of HitRECord On TV, and her art has been published in HitRECord’s Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Volume II.
