Logline:

Bi Sheng is a peasant and engineering genius living in the capital city of Bianjing. Desperate to be part of the aristocracy, Bi Sheng lies about his class status in order to secure a job as head of the failing Office of Printing. However, when he comes up with the revolutionary idea of movable type, Bi Sheng enters the dangerous world of Song Dynasty politics, where success means everlasting glory, and failure means an untimely death.

Bio:

Greg Swong is a writer and director of Korean descent from New Jersey. He graduated from the Horace Mann School and completed his BA in Philosophy at Columbia University, where he directed the short films The Maltweed Falcon, Creak, and Noah. Before receiving his MFA in Dramatic Writing, Greg was an award-winning visual artist, specializing in painting and photography. He also worked as a researcher for documentarian Alex Gibney. His stories focus on Asian diaspora, with common themes including intergenerational trauma, class conflict, and colonialism.
