Anthony Weintraub is an accomplished screenwriter, film and television producer and director, with a foot in industries ranging from feature films, children’s media, communications, and branding.

Anthony's groundbreaking 2007 screen adaptation of acclaimed manga creator Taiyo Matsumoto's graphic novel Tekkonkinkreet was the first Japanese anime to be written by a Westerner. Tekkonkinkreet won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for Best First Feature at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival.

Anthony began working in the film business as a story editor and script reader, working for clients such as Oliver Stone, Miramax Films, and Paula Weinstein.  He has directed award-winning short films which have screened in the Deauville, Ann Arbor, and Athens Film Festivals.  Most recently, Anthony co-wrote the screenplay for and produced the film adaptation of Ann Patchett’s bestselling novel Bel Canto, starring Julianne Moore and Ken Watanabe.

In 2013, Anthony co-founded yummico, a children’s media company, where he oversaw the creative development of multiple kids projects. In this capacity he set up deals, developed projects, and wrote teleplays for companies such as Dreamworks Animation, Canadian Broadcasting Corp, and Amazon. Anthony also conceptualized and wrote Yummiloo Rainbow Power, an award winning children’s iOS game app, as well as launching a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the independently animated pilot for yummico’s food adventure show, Yummilou

In addition to his film and television work, Anthony is a consultant for non-profit institutions, making award winning promotional and brand films, directing special events, designing media outreach campaigns and consulting on communication outreach for NGOs including Human Rights Watch, The Nature Conservancy, the Richard Gere Foundation, The Nation Institute, FilmAid International and Tricycle Magazine. Weintraub’s brand and lifestyle consulting work has also extended to retail ventures as well as other media outlets.

When he can find the time, Anthony is an active lecturer and public speaker. He lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife Caroline and their two sons, Asher and Emmanuel.
