Emily Hela Tsaconas

Emily Hella Tsaconas (eht227@nyu.edu) holds a Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies and French from the University of Southern California and a Master's degree in Performance Studies from New York University. Her dissertation project, Spectacular Fitness: Sex, Race and the Performance of Athletic Capacity,  spans performance art, feminism, elite sport, and post-industrial fitness cultures in order to theorize the training of bodies and subjects—and the accumulation of value therein—under the conditions of neoliberal capitalism. Hella serves as the Managing Editor of  Women & Performance: a journal of feminist theory, and she is a participant of the Sense Matters working group.
