Kay Turner's "Otherwise: Queer Scholarship into Song"

WHEN: Thursday, October 11 | 7-8:30pm
WHERE: City Lore Gallery in the East Village | 56 East 1st St.

Conceived and directed by folklorist and performer Kay Turner and featuring Viva DeConcini and Mary Feaster, "OTHERWISE: Queer Scholarship into Song" takes the form of a musical review featuring the unconventional transformation of recent queer scholarship into original songs performed for your enjoyment and enlightenment! Lyrics are arranged from the works of participating scholars including Ann Cvetkovich, Carolyn Dinshaw, Lisa Duggan, Christina Crosby, José Muñoz, Tavia Nyongo, and more. Lessons are “otherwise” learned when at home, you find yourself humming an academic tome!

Featuring Kay Turner (vocals), Viva DeConcini (guitar), Mary Feaster (bass) with SPECIAL musical performances by Professor of the Pipes, Ann Pellegrini and those Too Gay Jersey Girls, Paula Schorr and Karen Siegel.
