Congratulations to third year student, Kevin Wilson Jr., for winning 'Best Director' at HollyShorts Film Festival last week.

"My Nephew Emmett" tells the story of Emmett Till in his last hours through the perspective of his uncle Mose Wright. At 2:30 AM on August 28, 1955 in the most racially divided state in the country, 64 year-old Mose Wright struggles to protect his 14 year-old nephew Emmett Louis Till from two racist killers out for his blood.

Kevin does a wonderful job of depicting the horror that Emmett and his family felt on that fateful summer morning. "My Nephew Emmett" has been nominated for a Student Academy Award and will be screening at DC Shorts the week of September 7th-17th, 2017.

Follow the film's Facebook Page to get updates on the film as it makes it rounds through the festival circuit.
