Future Dramatic Writers Workshop

What is the Future Dramatic Writers Workshop?

About the Program

The Future Dramatic Writers Workshop is a free, highly-focused academic and professional writing program for students who have the talent and the will to write for theatre, film and television.

The Dramatic Writers Workshop gives students a taste of what it means to study and write drama, as well as an idea of what life as a dramatic writer is like.

From February to May, students learn:

  • the fundamentals of dramatic structure in lecture and discussion sessions on playwriting, screenwriting and television writing

  • develop scripts in each medium in the writing workshop sessions, and present their playwriting work in the department's Rita and Burton Goldberg Theatre

  • the same rigorous basic training as undergraduates: they must take courses in the basics of both screenwriting and playwriting.
