Future Dramatic Writers Workshop

The Future Dramatic Writers Workshop is a free highly focused academic and professional writing program for students who have the talent and the will to write for theatre, film and television.

The Dramatic Writers Workshop gives students a taste of what it means to study and write drama, as well as an idea of what life as a dramatic writer is like.

Students learn from February to May:

  • the fundamentals of dramatic structure in lecture and discussion sessions on playwriting, screenwriting and television writing

  • develop scripts in each medium in the writing workshop sessions, and present their playwriting work in the department's Rita and Burton Goldberg Theatre

  • the same rigorous basic training as undergraduates: they must take courses in the basics of both screenwriting and playwriting.

Please read through the Spring Future Artist Program Requirements Page to learn how to apply. And check out the Tisch Special Programs Admissions Calendar for important dates and deadlines.

If you have questions about the program or the application you can e-mail future.dramaticwriters@nyu.edu or call 212-998-1940
