By following “Less Process More Product”, I was able to provide physical characteristics and condition of the collected items as well as transcribe content details from item containers and film leaders. In addition to the division’s in-house collection management system, I documented additional physical appraisal information in a separate filemaker-based database that became the foundation to support suggested improvements in a collection assessment report. I ultimately offered short-term and long-term recommendations that would allow the division to revise its current workflow, establish a preservation strategy, and improve intellectual control over the collection.
