Winnie Schwaid-Lindner, New York Public Library, Preservation of Audio and Moving Image Unit & Jerome Robbins Dance Division, Fall 2017, NEH
This semester I worked at NYPL LPA with both PAMI and the Jerome Robbins Dance Division. While at PAMI, I was able to handle video and audio, and became familiar with the intricacies of the mediums. I performed QC, learned how to fix cassettes and digitize tapes, and also had the opportunity to use many other tools and pieces of software that are necessary for performing archival activities. For my internship at the Jerome Robbins Dance Division, I learned how to pre-process film, and gained an understanding of curatorial decisions regarding a collection, in addition to film handling and had the opportunity to learn more about NYPL's internal systems.
