My internship at NYPL during the fall semester of 2023 was primarily geared towards working with film. It ran from the 6th of September to the 15th of December and supervised by Ben Turkus. The internship was worked on location, and my time was divided between two library sites where I learned different skills while working under different teams of the Media Preservation Lab. At the Library Service Center, I was trained to handle, inspect, and repair films that were being sent to a vendor. At the Library for the Performing Arts I was taught how to digitise films, videos, and magnetic audio tapes of various sizes. This internship was not focused on going through a specific collection or number of materials, instead I gained experience by mostly participating in the Media Preservation Lab's typical workflow.
