In 2024, the Dia Art Foundation will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Throughout its history, the foundation has championed some of the most ambitious art projects of the 20th century, persistently backing artists engaging in projects of considerable scale and conceptual significance. During the fall semester of 2023, I interned at the Foundation's Archive, where under the guidance and support of Archivist Amye McCarther, I successfully implemented a VHS and cassette digitization workflow to support the Communications and Curatorial departments.

Processing the audiovisual documents from an organization with such a rich history was an exceptional experience. While carrying out supervised digitizations, I came across footage of Fred Sandback at work in Dia Beacon, unedited audio interviews featuring James Turrell and Sol Lewitt, and audio fragments from Constance DeJong and Tony Oursler's multimedia project, "Fantastic Prayers." Contributing to the organization's efforts to organize and digitize its extensive audiovisual archives was a truly enriching experience.
