Rather than presenting a traditional, static retrospective, A Life of Making—marking DPI Professor Yo's first-ever solo exhibition—is designed as an open narrative where image, thought, and the creative process seamlessly coexist. The guiding philosophy of the show—and Cuomo's career—is her personal manifesto: "The only mistake is not doing" («L'unico errore è non fare»). The exhibition takes visitors directly into Cuomo's visual laboratory, pulling back the curtain on how legendary photography books and editorial layouts are born out of deep creative partnerships. Throughout her 30+ year career, Cuomo has been the visual architect for some of the biggest names in music and photography, collaborating with icons like Paul Simon, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus, Gilles Peress, Matt Black, as well as Magnum Photos and Aperture magazine.
