"AVEDON" (2026)

DPI Professor Yolanda Cuomo Featured in Ron Howard’s "AVEDON," Set for World Premiere at 2026 Cannes Film Festival

NEW YORK / CANNES — Renowned art director and book designer Yolanda Cuomo (known to many as "Yo") takes center stage in the definitive new documentary AVEDON, directed by Academy Award-winner Ron Howard. The film has been officially selected for the 79th Cannes Film Festival as a "Special Screening" highlight, where it will make its world debut this May.

As Richard Avedon’s longtime visual collaborator and the architect behind his most monumental posthumous projects, Cuomo provides the documentary with its creative heartbeat. AVEDON explores the life and legacy of the titan of 20th-century photography, using Cuomo’s unique perspective to pull back the curtain on how Avedon’s images were curated, sequenced, and transformed into the iconic books and exhibitions that define his career today.

"Working with Dick was never just about a single photo; it was about the narrative, the rhythm, and the 'making,'" says Cuomo. "To see that process honored in Ron Howard’s film at a venue as prestigious as Cannes is a testament to the enduring power of Avedon’s vision."

The documentary features unprecedented access to the Richard Avedon Foundation archives and rare studio footage, anchored by Cuomo's insights into their "visual laboratory."
