Prof. Wafaa Bilal Included in List of Leading Global Thinkers

Monday, Dec 12, 2016

DPI Professor Wafaa Bilal was recently named one of Foreign Policy magazine's Leading 100 Global Thinkers of 2016 for his work as an advocate and ensuring that "the sword isn’t mightier than the pen."

His work as an advocate was especially apparent in 168:01, an exhibition earlier this year at Ontario's Art Gallery of Windsor, where he "debuted a 72-foot bookshelf stocked with 1,000 blank, white books... With the help of Kickstarter donors, he replaced the fake books with real ones, which he eventually shipped back to Baghdad."

Wafaa Bilal is an Iraqi-born artist and DPI Associate Professor. He is known internationally for his on-line performative and interactive works provoking dialogue about international politics and internal dynamics.
