Photoville 2017 is here, and the Tisch Department of Photography & Imaging is well-represented!

The official NYU Tisch exhibition, located in Container 17 features selected works from the class of 2017 including Maya Baroody, Lucy Beni, Phoebe Boatwright, Aaron Breetwor, Eugenia Efstathiou, Alex Fiszbein, Adam Kargenian, Aaron Kho, Michelle Kim, Justin Lanier, Claire Sunho Lee, Oscar Lewin, Yuka Lou, Andrew Nelson, David Tu Sun Song, Lea Winkler, and Tris Bucaro.

Department Chair Dr. Deborah Willis will present a conversation with Aperture Magazine editor Brandon Wattenberg discussing "the iconic images central to Willis’s career, tracing themes of representation and beauty in historic archives, photojournalism, fashion, and fine art photography from the nineteenth century to the present."

For Education Day, DPI will host Future Imagemakers Speak Out. Students from the 2017 NYU Future Imagemakers workshop will discuss how they use photography to tell their stories and address social justice issues in a panel moderated by Lorie Novak, Professor and Founder/Director of Future Imagemakers and current student Riana Gideon.

Don't miss the Red Hook Editions Community Book Store-- alum Alan Chin is involved, alum Rian Dundon will have books and zines for sale, alum Jackie Neale will be siging #SubwaySeries books on 9/17 from 4pm-5pm, Bending the Frame participant Debi Cornwall will be signing books on 9/23 from 12pm-1pm.

 

Alum Sasha Arutyunova's project 48 Hours En Pointe appeared earlier this month on the famous Photoville Fence, and she will participate in the PDN30 Talk on 9/17 at 3:00pm in St. Ann's Warehouse. Her work is also featured in the PDN30 Container.
