DPI Alum Monique Jaques (BFA '08) is covered in a Guardian piece titled "Gaza Girls: rites of passage in Palestine-in pictures." The piece focuses on her upcoming book of the same name set to be released this year.

After traveling to Gaza for the first time five years ago, Jaques has returned countless times to, as she puts it, "document the strength, creativity and vibrancy of Palestinian girls and young women." Her work in the Gaza strip focuses on the tenacity of women in this region surrounded by conflict.

Jaques' body of work centers on documenting issues in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and West Africa. Her previous works have been published in The New York Times, National Geographic and The Wall Street Journal among others. Jaques was also included in a TIME piece on female photographic voices, as a photojournalist to watch.
