NYU alumna Nanfu Wang celebrated the premiere of her film HOOLIGAN SPARROW in New York and Los Angeles this month.
Hooligan Sparrow follows the incredible story of a group of activists in China who risk their lives to protest against the sexual abuse of school girls by their principal. It's a harrowing story that debuted at Sundance in January and has screened at top film festivals around the world. The film has won numerous festival awards and is one of the top-rated documentaries of 2016 according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Nanfu's film also features Tisch faculty member Peter Lucas as Creative Producer. The two collaborators first met in Prof. Lucas' Open Arts class Poetics of Witnessing.
