See Professor Jennifer Ruff's, Head of NYU Grad Post Production and Editing, article in Filmsupply where she talks about the importance of editing based off of feeling and emotion rather than technicalities.

Jennifer's background in the poetry and literary world has heavily influenced her eye. Some of her work includes Y Tu Mamá También, Boys Don't Cry, and High Art.

In the article Jennifer stresses the importance of not panicking and listening to the material in front of you.

"I always say to my students, 'Editing is a constant process of solving one problem and creating another. It’s like a game of Jenga. Sometimes it feels like the whole thing is going to collapse'" - Jennifer.
