Manon Gray, National Museum of African American History and Culture, Smithsonian Institution, Summer 2016
This summer, I worked in the Media Conservation Department at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Working at NMAAHC in the lead up to its opening was a very unique and exciting experience. I handled objects from the Pearl Bowser Collection, which includes both film and analog video. My work included inspecting films in preparation for possible conservation efforts and storage and digitizing videos for preservation and research access.
