Anne-Marie Desjardins, The New Museum, Spring 2018
My internship at the New Museum of Contemporary Art consisted in facilitating the ingest of born-digital media onto the digital archive. This involved the research of specific Public Programs, the to compiling of properly structured verification files, the import of media from a cloud storage software onto the digital archive, proper metadata employment and the use of an open-source database. I also partook in the audit and assessment of a collection of magnetic media, which ultimately contributed to the determination of priority titles in the form of an inventory. This was a great learning experience for me. It allowed for me to become accustomed to an open-source database, to strategize the organization of events on the back end so as to promote access, aesthetic and practicality on the front-end, and to become more comfortable with the language of museums and archives.
