Adam Andre, IndieCollect, Fall 2017

IndieCollect is a non-profit organization that works to document, restore, and find a permanent home for independent films so that scholars, researchers, cinephiles, and the public can enjoy them for many years to come. In a broader sense, IndieCollect acts as an intermediary between filmmakers/collectors and collecting institutions. During my time at IndieCollect, I contributed to the IndieCollect Queer Cinema Index by researching and identifying records from the Outfest Legacy Collection database. I collaborated with Steve Blakely (Archives Liaison) to produce inventories so that both IndieCollect and the filmmakers/collectors had better intellectual control over their moving image materials. Lastly, but certainly not least, I digitally captured and produced high-resolution digital files of delicate 16mm and 35mm film elements using the 5K Kinetta Scanner. These files would go on to be restored, deposited in a safe digital repository for preservation, and used in new productions.
