This fall during my internship at Fashion Institute of Technology's Special Collections and College Archives (SPARC), I was able to work on cataloging and digitizing a great deal of fascinating and unique audiovisual materials related to design and fashion. With a collection ranging from 18th century fashion plates to still photography from the early 20th century related to fashion - SPARC's AV collection represents the fashion industry expanding into the moving image era. As a New York City institution focussed on access, this institution is currently working towards expanding their AV preservation arm to reach greater preservation standards. During the course of the internship - I worked with U-Matic, VHS, Betacam SP video formats as well as 16mm film which all reside within their archive.
